Gypsy queen is officially out tomorrow, but as usually some retail sellers have already gotten the first cases and are putting their breaks on ebay, so we are already able to see what’s inside. These are my first impressions, with the very good, the good and the not so good.
What’s great
I love one particular insert set, and it’s Sliding stars. The focus is on base stealers:

The design is a great retake on last year’s insert The great ones, I am glad the guys at Topps didn’t retouch it too much.
Also hitting the target is Glove Stories, a set focused on great defensive plays:

Really neat design, here.
What’s good
Hallmark heroes is the 2012 version of The Great ones, the set devoted to greats of the past.

Making a nice step forward is Future stars, I really love the colors in this set.

A nice surprise are the relic cards, I think these are much better than last year’s version:

Paper framed parallels this year are blue and printed to 599, they look good, but not as much as the gold version, only found in retail boxes, though:

What’s not so good
While regular relics took a nice restyling, mini relics are not so nice as the 2011 version, and Moonshots is the only insert set I don’t like much, they look a little bit too plain:

I am waiting for some nice autos to show up before giving this product a final grade, but for now I really like what I see, and I am looking forward to getting the 2 boxes I ordered many months ago.
