While I am still waiting for my Topps Series 1 box, lost somewhere in Northern Italy under the snow, I have found three other ways to cherish the craze of the first baseball cards release of the year.
First, I bought three spots in a hobby box community break, due this weekend: I came away with good prices for the Orioles, Marlins and Padres. While I am not expecting much, I am aware that a Cal Ripken ring would be a great hit, not to mention the super short print card of Reyes in the Marlins uniform.
Then, I took a shortcut and bought a complete “Gold standard” parallel set:

As I said, this is in my opinion the best insert set of the product, and I had it without the hassle of searching for the singles in different auctions.
And finally, I made a nice deal to get one “Gold rush” redemption pack.

I live in Italy, so I had no chance of getting the 14 wrappers I need to reach the 50 wanted to redeem the wrappers redemption pack before the end of february, but I found a nice guy on ebay who sold 50 of them and who’ll send the wrappers to Topps for me, eventually sending to me the pack he’ll get.
The guy has a 100% feedback with more than 8,000 transactions, so I am sure I’ll get the pack and I’ll be able to search it for a card like the one above.
And that’s all with Topps Series 1, for now.
